Sacrifice

Sacrifice is such a bullshit word to describe bravery of the kind our veterans displayed. Putting yourself, and your life, between everything you value and the affront that abhors life as the standard of value, is no sacrifice, by any definition of the word.

Remember.

Every day.

Especially today.

But not just today.

Take stock of your daily choices. Ask yourself, do your choices serve the honourable, as much as their bravery continues to serve you and the ones you love?

Freedom, choice, and the ability to pursue a life of value and happiness free of constraints or idealogy, these are the choices we all make every day.

The choice to maintain what has been won with great loss and to not actually make their loss a true sacrifice.

Remember that choices include silence and inaction.

Lest We Forget and Never Again.

First post…

I haven’t used WordPress in over a decade. I have been feeling the urge to write again. It has also been over a decade since I wrote anything, publicly anyway. As John Lennon once said “Life is what happens, when you are busy making plans”.

I’ve always wanted to be a writer and somehow make a living from that act, but I have let excuses, justifications and low self-image keep my body from taking action. I’m not going to hold myself back anymore. My self has a lot to say, and it has ideas to share. I usually see the world from a positive perspective and I think you’ll see it in my writing. I don’t foresee any particular topic or way of thinking being the subject of my writing, but maybe that will emerge as I attempt to write at least one post per day. I write for the sake of writing, learning and honing the craft and getting my ideas on medium. I was going to say paper, but who does that anymore? Anyway, my point is I am not writing to an audience, though one may form as a result. That would be nice, and I hope if that happens, and someone is reading this, that they share they’re ideas and comment in a constructive and engaging way. Criticism and helpful tips are welcome. I think that’s enough for today. I leave you with a favourite quote that I try to make part of every waking moment…

“This is a wonderful day, I’ve never seen this one before”
